Specification of Wacker SG 79 Sealant / Silicon Glass Sealant
Glass facades, especially in Asia, are increasingly being installed and bonded on construction sites. At ZAK Glass Technology, WACKER has presented a new silicone sealant specifically for on-site installation. WACKER SG 79 Structural Glazing is a one-component silicone sealant that cures rapidly upon reaction with atmospheric moisture. “Fully cured, the sealant can be stretched up to 500 percent. This allows the product to compensate for movement in the joint up to 50 percent of the gap width,” the company claims.
WACKER SG 79 resists temperatures between –30 C and +80 C and is therefore suitable for structural coating applications in various climatic zones. This product cures almost without odor and can be processed at temperatures ranging from 5 to 40 C. WACKER SG 79 is perfect for all conventional building materials such as glass, steel, concrete or stone, even without a primer.
